That works for me! Jasper could begin thinking about rooting out bandits because he hears about the situation from Stephen? He would be insightful enough to realise how improving the situation could advance his own position - but he needs to hear how bad the problem is first. It would be interesting to see how their morals conflict. Jasper calls people rats and vermin so :|

Perhaps a meeting in the library? Jasper would go there to stick his nose in everything he can find and if Stephen speaks about healing magic he could ask for recommendations. He'd also be interested in his knowledge about modern medicine - or mystical since Jasper's homeworld does have potions and herbs.

I'd also love to delve into his death if things get that far! SO MUCH POTENTIAL.
