[ There's a part of Cassidy that wants to play nice and join up if only to spy on their hosts and see what they're planning, but the other part of him knows he can move more freely (theoretically) if he doesn't tie himself down to any organization here. It's usually easy enough to keep people hanging as he claims he'll think about it, so hopefully that'll keep him in people's good graces long enough for him to figure out what's really going on.
