If Kainé was any indication to judge her by, grandma must have been quite the delinquent in her youth. It wouldn't surprise him if Kainé latter revealed that her grandma was once the leader of an all-female gang or a daughter of a famous yakuza.
There was one thing he could conclude about her grandma with absolute certainty; Kainé loved her. The way Kainé smiled when she mentioned her made that clear.
And that sweet moment was quickly ruined by Kainé reminding him that she was a foul-mouthed delinquent. Touma watched as the outline of a scary-looking sword flickered into existence for a split-second in her hand before immediately disappearing as if it was nothing more than a fleeting illusion. Her failed summoning was predictably followed up with more unladylike vocabulary. Was she really planning on using something that massive to open the bottle with? Even ignoring its impractical size, its jagged shape would have made it ill-suited to cut or stab anything with any amount of finesse. It was probably for the best that the aftereffects of the summoning was still interfering with her magic.
"Well, we could try going back and convincing one of the maids to lend us a corkscrew. I know that sounds like a pain in the ass, but it's better then..." His sentence was abruptly cut off by Kainé's outburst. Unlike her earlier outburst, the tone of this one was decisively more concerning. Worried, he followed her gaze trying to spot what rattled her, only to find nothing unusual in the orange dyed sky.
"Kainé, what is it? Is there something there?"
Whatever it was, it obviously spooked her pretty bad.
