In a lot of ways, this place is better for Jayce, but that could be the fear of going back to something impossible in him. He'd been in a dark place when he found himself here and everything here is calming and simple. Back to being a scientists, an inventor, in the forge, taking medicine classes at the academy, reminding himself of who he was before the hunger for power and validation took over. He has a chance to save Viktor here too and all he can see back there are his failures.

Jayce doesn't have the ability to make them himself, gunsmithing is not his business, but he knows a lot of people now. He has connections. He knows she'll feel more comfortable with a gun in her hand.
