EVENT #1 OOC PLOTTING POST
EVENT #1 OOC PLOTTING
Hello and welcome to our very first event! This is where you can OOCly ask us questions and plot with other players.
We'd also like to give a quick rundown of both this event and the events that will follow in the next few months, just so you're all prepared!
June 12th and 13th will be the same as what was on our TDM, so you can make individual logs for these days or decide that some of your TDM threads were canon for them. During this time, honored guests will be told about the Singularity and Thorne's goals regarding it (anything you see about that on the FAQ is something they're allowed to know). They will not be told why they specifically are here and why they're honored while others are imprisoned, but they can tell prisoners about the Singularity if they like.
If you haven't already, please sign up for room and cell assignments in this post! RNG assignments will be given at the end of the day.
This event, which takes place from June 14th-19th, will be divided into two smaller groups. The honored guest event primarily focuses on politics and worldbuilding, while the prisoner event has more horror and mystery. We wrote these events based on what we hoped each group would enjoy, but there is some opportunity to go with the other group if you'd like!
The downtime between this event and July's will involve basically the same setting as the TDM, except honored guests will have their powers back, they can now venture out into the town instead of being stuck in the castle, and an honored guest will be able to sign a prisoner out for a trip to the town if they say they need help with something and have them back in a few hours. Escape will still not be possible during this time, but hold tight!
July's event will be a longer one and will involve every character together without being split into groups. This event will involve war, more information about the other factions, and a better look at the Singularity.
August will begin by introducing our second group of characters (please note that we have a player cap, not a character cap, if you would like to app a second) and will then be followed up with two NPC logs that will wrap up the honored guest and prisoner arc and allow everyone to explore more individual goals and plot arcs from then on. If these first two events feel more linear than what you were expecting, they are intended to be a slow introduction to the game and a chance to build CR and start coming up with arc ideas before we throw you right into individual plotting.
There will be an opportunity for prisoners to be released before the NPC logs in August. More on that will be posted after this event.
Lastly, we'd like to thank you all for your involvement in the game! These first few months are going to involve a lot of us getting our footing here, mods included, so we thank you for your patience with us and with each other.
Some questions everyone might want to know the answers to:
1. Equipment and lighting in the tunnels
2. Clothes in the tunnels
3. How fast powers return for welcomed characters
4. Where to post top levels

1) How are the characters fed while doing this work? Do they eat at the camp? How much are they given? Are there rations allotted for while they are in the tunnels?
2) If one were to get "lost" and not return from the tunnels the next day, is there any recourse for that? Estinien's plan would be to wander off but keep track of where he is so that he could stay in the tunnels overnight and wait for the others to leave before heading out onto the mountain on his own.
3) Is the camp set up close to the mining area anywhere near civilization? Are there trees and animals about (for potential tools and hunting in the aftermath.) Estinien is a cryptid wild man who has spent plenty of time in the frostbitten wilderness surviving on his own so this is something that is potentially in his element.
Estinien's hope is to separate himself from the group and then potential rough it in the mountains as need be until he can find his way back to civilization. He has the pertinent skills for this task, so he feels like he has a chance. Generally, I'm inquiring about what major obstacles he may see getting in his way.

2. The entrances to the tunnels will all be guarded and it's assumed that a lot of people will be spending the night inside of them thanks to how complicated they can get. If you don't come out for more than a day or two after it ends, you're assumed deceased. There are some skeletons lying around from the last harvest, as no one goes to retrieve them.
3. The camp is far from civilization and close to the entrance of the tunnels. If you can survive for a few days in the wild, you could make it to Hayle from here. There are trees (mostly pine trees), and animals like deer, wolves, rabbits, various rodents, and birds. There are some edible plants but some of them have negative effects, so be careful.
There aren't many places to go other than the wilderness or other Thornean cities, but if a longer successful escape is something you'd like to play out we can offer the opportunity to be recaptured by a guard in the wilderness later, or make it to Hayle and be turned back in to the Thornean authorities there. If this is a path you wish to pursue please be advised that:
1. A maximum of 2 other prisoners can come with him (too many "deaths" would make the guards suspicious).
and
2. He and his companions would no longer be eligible to be granted release and they would remain prisoners until the "prison break" plot we have planned for the second group of arrivals (more details on this plot will be released later in the month when we detail the options for release vs. staying in prison).

So Estinien (and Himeka) are for sure going to go this route but there is a third party member I'm still confirming. When that is sorted out, should I take this to the In the Tunnels prompt?
