He pushes onward though, offers to play poison tester, asking her to watch for adverse effects. It catches her off guard.

"Me?" She points to herself, as if there were anyone else he could have been referring to. "You'd really put your life in my hands? I d-don't know the first thing about poison. If s-something goes wrong you'll just die!"

Though, who else would they be able to ask? She hasn't met too many of the new arrivals, and she wouldn't trust the local doctors as far as she should throw them. Which is not at all.
