In all likelihood, they won't run into anything on the way, considering the road between the outpost and the city is one of the more travelled and therefor more patrolled. Should be an otherwise boring trip, he just wasn't willing to risk it. It's kind of his job to do what he's doing right now: making sure the civilian (whether she actually is one or is just temporarily civilian status) doesn't get hit with a rare run of bad luck and stumble face first into a Chaigon. )
