A Jedi. Yes, Obi-Wan had suspected. He searches his memory to bring a face to the name of Jaro Tapal, reaching back ten years and further. There were so many Jedi, spread across the galaxy after three years of the Clone Wars, but...Bracca, Cal says, and that does spark a memory from near the war's end, of discussing and surveying troop deployments against a rapidly-crumbling Separatist front-line with the rest of the Jedi Council.
"The 13th Battalion. On the Albedo Brave." He remembers the image of the Lasat Jedi Master's stoic visage on datapads and computer-screens. "I only knew your master by reputation." Obi-Wan admits. "But I remember the orders going through dispatching him to Bracca." He vaguely remembers something about a padawan accompanying him, but nothing definite. His attention had been focused elsewhere. Cal speaks of him in the past tense and, Obi-Wan isn't surprised. Cal's lost a lot, but clearly Master Tapal's sacrifice wasn't in vain.
He smiles sadly, and clasps Cal on the shoulder. "You've been surviving Cal, and that is important." True, Obi-Wan himself didn't think so until recently, ground down by ten years of hiding and Imperial rule, but he understands now. Every Jedi, Padawan, Knight or Master who survived, is going to be necessary in the days ahead.
It sounds like Bracca had been a refuge of sorts for the boy, but no longer. "Is the Empire onto you?" He asks, concerned. The Inquisitors were relentless when they smelled a Jedi.
