"Makes you a survivor," she agrees affably with the non-spoken end of that statement. Most might finish it with 'makes you stronger', it's the obvious expectation, but Inej isn't sure she necessarily believes that, not quite so exactly as the statement alone assumes.

Is she stronger for all her broken pieces? Perhaps. But parts of her are still broken because of it all, too. She's had to rebuild on top of shattered foundations, and sometimes it's awe she looks back on it at; other times it's horror. The dichotomy of her own opinion of herself and all that she's become war with one another daily.
