Jo's eyebrows are rising as he's starting those first two words because he's not even attempting to sound confident with wherever that bullshit's about to go. Whatever he's about to try and say, not in answer her question. But he stops and reorients, Jo following it. That weird, telegraphed kind of transparency, except without any clue what was happening between it in his head.

"Not that crazy, actually," Jo says first. And it isn't.
Her world ended up in that boiling pot more often than people knew.
More often than once, for a whole planet was already excessive. And yet.

Jo maybe even seems to be reconsidering him in light of that knowledge. Someone working to stop something that big from happening to a world, to the people of it. There's even the space of something that wants to, but likely won't be, an apology for his being stuck here and unable to keep doing that good work. Apologies won't save any of them here.
