"Yeah, how the mighty have fallen. But I don't mind. I've always been better at this than politics anyway."
It is the truth and Jayce is very much done with politics. His time as a councilor was short and bloody and he still has a lot of mixed feelings and guilt about all of that. Going back to working with his hands and mind instead of his popularity has been a relief of a kind. He has no idea yet if she's from before or after his disaster, if she can tell him what happened next, but he suspects if she knew what he'd done, this would be a different conversation.
It occurs to him he's going to have to explain himself again. Viktor was very difficult and Jayce waited far too long to do it, so he knows he'll have to do it sooner with her. They just have a lot to go over, and that will have to be left for post-catch-up on what this place means. He'll deal with his ongoing dread later.
Jayce tries to underplay how much having magic means to him, mostly because if he does talk about it, it's an explosion of emotions. Good ones, all of them. But he grins at her, unable to resist that surge of joy, since she understands. "I know, it's ... honestly been the most incredible thing." He's wanted to be a mage since he was a child, and got the closest a normal person could.
"I'm a healer, that's what I focused on." The flame goes out, but it was only to show her, since healing requires injury first. Jayce doesn't know if she's aware about Viktor. She's been in the Undercity, he hadn't been able to talk to her about it. Also a subject for another time.
He pulls up Viktor's chair for her so they can sit if they want to. "Okay, so ... let me see if I can give you a summary. I know this is all insane sounding, so you're just going to have to believe everything I'm saying is the truth. They kidnap us from exact points in time, so we're not all from the same time, what happened to you might be in my past or my future. We're all attached to something called the Singularity, it's the source of magic in this world, we have access to a psychic plane that you can make a home in, whatever you can imagine. V and I have the tower. I can take you later."
It'll also take some explaining since she won't remember her first visit, but it's necessary.
"They've Summoned people from all kinds of worlds and we're stuck in three different locations. Free Cities, where we are, is currently at war with one of them, Thorne. They recently magic bombed an entire city nearby, so ... the conflict we were seeing in Piltover is child's play in comparison."
