"Honestly, until I was in a position of authority, I didn't see how bad our system really is. It needs an overhaul. Which was something I planned on trying before I ended up here."

He genuinely doesn't know if he did the right thing, agreeing to meet with Silco and find a peaceful solution. It's not as if negotiating with a gang boss is a good thing, but he also couldn't see a solution that was possible from the Piltover elite. Caitlyn would understand partly, having brought Vi to them knowing they couldn't fix the Undercity without help. He just doubts he and Vi are on the same page anymore. Jayce won't know the results of his choices until he goes back and lives through them. For now, he's decided to stop wondering and live in the here and now.

"You'll be in there with me but you won't have any of your memories, it's sort of like being a blank slate. That's why it's good to go with someone you trust. The Singularity, the source of all the magic here, created the Horizon and I think it mostly does that to suss people out mentally. We don't know for sure though, it can't communicate with us."

Jayce doesn't even know if it's a sentient creature or anything, it's hard to say. He knows people have theories and even some experiences saying one way or the other, but no one has concrete proof. So Jayce mostly just shrugs and doesn't bother with speculating over it. As far as he can tell, understanding it does not mean they can control it or make it stop when it's putting them mentally through a struggle.

"No natives here can go there, only us. I think the people who originally started this summoning business did it to try and get people who could interact with the Singularity. Anyone from here dies if they try to go near it."

He doubts for good reasons, power and all that, but he understands why they did it. But it puts the rest of them in the position of being kidnapped and hardly grateful for that. Jayce is grateful for this place though, which is going to seem surprising, but it's for an obvious reason. Viktor's alive. They have a real chance of curing him. That has to matter the most.

Jayce gravely nods. "Yeah. I think we both learned that lesson recently." Both because of Marcus, but she was the one who worked with him more. Jayce was just distressed he couldn't see through it. "We've been helping the Libertas disaster relief group. They're just heading into the reconstruction mode so I'm trying to work with that."

He's good at making things. "I would just say don't make any big decisions right now. Get a lay of the land first. There's an inn they let Summoned live for free in exchange for helping out. V and I have our own apartment, you can crash with us if you prefer." He knows Viktor wouldn't be surprised that he'd want Caitlyn to stay close. But.

"...we're together now. By the way." He's flushed but not embarrassed in the slightest, if anything he is deliriously happy about it.
