"We both didn't know. It's easy to be caught up in Piltover prejudice, even when we meant well."

They are both speaking now from experience, having witnessed the other side of things and it has changed their perspective. That wouldn't happen for everyone in Piltover though. Not everyone would be open to realizing not only that they've been treating an entire half of the city wrong, but that their prejudice was wrong to start with. Caitlyn and Jayce are forward thinkers and want to change the world, but even they needed to be dragged down to Earth and forced to see the truth.

"Professor Heimerdinger was right about more than I cared to admit, but he was always wrong about the Undercity."

Caitlyn wasn't there for Heimerdinger's ousting although she probably noticed in the council room that he was gone. Jayce can say that he is sorry it went down that way, but not sorry that it happened. He loved the Professor almost like a surrogate father, but it's very clear to him now that as long as the government didn't care about change, it was only going to get worse. They were in their situation because of the failures of the council, even his own. Although Heimerdinger ended up right about Hextech. Jayce really sees things clearly these days, but that's the problem with hindsight.

"Yes, Libertas was almost entirely destroyed, but the bones of the buildings and the life that was there still exist. We saved as many as we could. There's a lot of work ahead. I could use your help, Cait. It may not involve guns, but you have a better mind than me for problem-solving when it comes to people."

She is the detective. Jayce was wrong to doubt her when she was investigating Jinx and Silco, she knew more than any of them, and she was able to follow that lead to the truth. Why couldn't that brilliant mind be used in a practical way during construction and repair? He believes in her and he knows working together will help. The fact he stopped listening or having Caitlyn and Viktor around is part of why he thinks he acted stupidly. He forgot to hear the best voices in his ears.

As for Viktor, well. The flush doesn't stop and frankly, the grin that comes across his face says everything about how ridiculously pleased he is with how that is going. He's in love. "Honestly, in my heart, it's been years, but our work came first." And they had such a harmonious and perfect partnership, it seemed like a really bad idea to complicate it. "But we've been together five of those eight months I've been here. We didn't end up wasting that much time, given the chance."

Without their partnership to worry about and Piltover vs. the Undercity, without all the hang-ups they had back home. Viktor's illness known and some kind of stop-gap created gave them the time to just give into what was there.

"But he's ...." There's a pause. If she does live with them, or spend a lot of time with them, this will come up. He would rather have Viktor give him permission, but at this point, he just wants to tell her. Confide in her. The smile fades. "He's sick. We're working on a cure." Jayce uses the word sick but it wouldn't be hard to know by the tone he means something worse.
