He's given quite a lot in his personal pitch — names, locations, perspective — and the glad-handing leaves Sam feeling as if most would naturally ease. His own urge to do so only wars with the discomfort of being so far away from home, tempering his appreciation a measure. ]

Work that I like? Or work that I'm good at?

[ Not a crucial distinction to Sam, really; he'll do the work that needs to be done (likely very well) and if he doesn't like it, he'll do a remarkable job at least pretending not to hate it. That's the inoffensiveness of his character, the part of Sam that doesn't mind filling in the gaps because he knows he can. There are other distinctions to be made about him — parts that he's long since pressed to the back — but there's certainly not enough in his glass to loose his lips in that regard.

Thoughtfully, he leans back in his chair, fingers playing at the edge of the table. What to do next, like a broad horizon open to discovery is not something Sam's thought about in a long time. ]
