Touching the shrine will give them a warm and tingling sensation. While putting objects into the notch won't open anything, they can hear a click that suggests the notch does in fact take a "key" of some type.

The back of the shrine contains a symbol painted with an odd thick black substance. Unlike the aged shrine, the symbol is not faded and looks new.
