Using his stealth abilities, Thancred can listen in on a conversation between Ambrose and Anastasia. He'll find their arguments are petty and inconsequential, but eventually they will have a sincere exchange. During it, Ambrose will state that he wants to find the Summoned and that he believes their safe return is more important than Thorne or any war. Despite his brisk and curt demeanor, Ambrose seems to genuinely believe in the wellbeing of Abraxas and the Singularity more than any particular kingdom or ruler.

Anastasia will remark that perhaps his cold blackened heart can still thaw from time to time, at which point they will devolve into petty bickering once more. It concludes with Ambrose declaring he "needs some air." Anastasia will ask if he is storming off to "ponder his orb again."

If Thancred is too close to the door, he will run the risk of it swinging open into his face, so he should be hasty in his escape before Ambrose runs into him as he stalks back to his private office.
