This premise is fine! Since the humanoid fiend mysteriously returns after being killed, characters may kill it as they wish without going through us first as it will not affect event continuity. However, you can certainly check in with us or request a roll as you like for some additional surprises.
Sylvain and Claude will succeed in killing it after a tough battle, but they will face one of the following consequences of your choosing:
1. The NPC will be killed. 2. Either Sylvain or Claude will contract a wound that becomes painfully inflamed for a day or two (or longer if you like) from a secretion in the creature's claws.
You can also accept both consequences if you feel that'll make things interesting for your characters. There is no need to select just one if you'd like to incorporate both.
