The trap will partially succeed, but the creature soon breaks free. However, they will succeed in killing it.

Removing its head causes the bulbous gland in the creature's throat to swell then burst into a corrosive mist cloud that showers the immediate vicinity. Coming into contact with the substance will cause a rash, possibly containing boils, to form on the skin. This injury will heal within a day or so. The misty cloud will dissipate after a few seconds.
