Regardless, he'll learn that the distance calculated using the travel time of an average boat is about 3 hours. Crossing the island from one end to the other on foot takes roughly 1-2 days, depending on speed and rest.
2. Standard visuals from someone without any magical ability will not reveal anything at first glance. However, if he watches for a longer period, he might notice that sometimes the trees move location or small wildlife might vanish unexpectedly, as if passing through an invisible door.
