1. Since the island isn't necessarily a new landmark, Viktor could consult a map rather than rely on the birds and mathematics to calculate the distance, although he can certainly do the math himself if he prefers. Regardless, he'll learn that the distance calculated using the travel time of an average boat is about 3 hours. Crossing the island from one end to the other on foot takes roughly 1-2 days, depending on speed and rest.

2. Standard visuals from someone without any magical ability will not reveal anything at first glance. However, if he watches for a longer period, he might notice that sometimes the trees move location or small wildlife might vanish unexpectedly, as if passing through an invisible door.

3. Stephen will detect magic in the vicinity. It appears to be a combination of many types of magic, but defensive measures would be one. He may need additional help to figure out how to deal with those enchantments, but this would be best followed up in Part 2.

4. This would also be best done in Part 2, but generally speaking they'd be provided with the resources they need to breach the island.
