Lenore had exchanged greetings with her new roommate, but only briefly, in passing. It was easy to catch Lenore only briefly, in passing, when she lived a mostly-nocturnal schedule, though at least that wasn't a matter of life and death anymore. She'd noticed Maya sitting on one of the beds and staring at nothing when she woke, but when Lenore washed and dressed and came back, there she was, still on the bed, still staring at nothing.

Lenore came over and sat down beside her, quiet but sympathetic, not saying or asking anything just yet, only offering her presence.
