She'd probably have instinctively shrugged off anyone else, not wanting sympathy as it often felt too close to pity. But this isn't Jakku and she's probably going to have to reveal some more unfortunate news about Obi-Wan's future sooner or later, so she manages a tiny smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes.

"It's a nicer desert, and so far earning my keep seems a lot more pleasant."

If they'd shown up on Jakku these little creatures would've been trapped and sold for food and perhaps their fur. Handing them to patients at the hospital is so much kinder than the life she'd known that it's almost absurd, and perhaps that's why she gravitated to it first.

"Do you think you could teach me how to sense it? The Force?"

There's that unkillable hope again. There's every likelihood this is a weird dream, but if it's not...? She can't possibly throw away the chance she'd never get back home.
