Anakin was well aware of idea of getting used to something to make it bearable, to push the discomfort to the back of your mind. He had a great deal of practice at that, more than he truly wanted Obi-Wan to know. But the shoulder squeeze made him feel like he had gobbled a piece of fruit too fast, that hard thing in your throat feeling you had to breathe around for a couple of minutes.

Really the jarring differences here were...strange and unsettling. But Anakin could adapt, especially now that Obi-Wan was here. As much as he tended to strut about as if he didn't need an adult, as if he was grown - and he was compared to those his age and even the older Padawans! - as much as he knew his mother had prepared him to fend for himself if needed, that he could ensure he was sheltered and had water, knew how to hunt small vermin for meat and forage a bit for food, knew his skills and how to show them in a way that never truly showed how valuable he was to a stranger...
...as much as all of that was true, he knew the way to be safest in the universe when you were his age and his size was to have an adult with you.

And if he couldn't have his mother, he would demand to have Obi-Wan. There was a tension he'd been holding in his body that released, like a stuck latch finally worked loose, and just for a fraction he relaxed against his Master. A slump borne of comfort and safety.

Adjusting to the Temple had been hard - it was just so completely different. This? This was...different but less than that. And he's heard a LOT from other slaves and pilots and the racing crews.

"I won't show off, I promise! Well, not in a bad way, you do have to put on a show but you won't disapprove Master." As soon as he's speaking he's back to a perky posture, leaning into Obi-Wan's space, sure but not slumped against him like a child in need of a nap.

Which he wasn't. Anakin was almost bouncing on his toes.
