"The entire arrangement with the Summoned is mysterious," Lenore agrees. "The three largest nations are all bringing in Summoned, but I've yet to get a satisfactory reason as to why. They don't really even put us to any use, most of the time. We're just like ... guests. I haven't yet been asked to do anything that any native couldn't do."

It's all concerning and confusing, but she's not all that upset about being 'kidnapped', relatively speaking. The immediate situation she came from was ... worse.

"From what little I've been told, they are born, not turned. In my world, all vampires were once humans, and can even interbreed." Not a point she'd bring up if it weren't for there being a half-breed from her world here in Abraxas, possibly even currently nearby in Nocwich. "They're sensitive to the sun, as I am, and require a certain amount of blood in their diet. If they also eat human food, I haven't yet heard of it. I eat human food both for taste and for nutrition. I could subsist entirely off of blood, if I had enough of it. I couldn't subsist entirely without blood. But generally I prefer to get most of my energy from ordinary food and only supplement with enough blood to keep myself healthy."
