"Not here?" There's context he's missing- it feels as though there is always context he is missing with Anakin. One detail he does not know, a nightmare left unspoken, a lesson he never learned in full before becoming responsible for this powerful, wonderful, frustrating boy. Whether life left him unprepared or Qui-Gon never bothered to teach him, whether it simply isn't something they ever covered- too often the path seems littered with stones to trip either of them. But his entire life they've managed to work their way around, through, or over those trials.

Perhaps time apart during the war hid something he missed? Perhaps he left Anakin behind on a particularly difficult detachment? As a knight he would be promoted to general, and likely not be sent on as many missions alongside Obi-Wan. That must be what happened.

There's nothing in his eyes other than worry. Concern for someone that is so deeply dear to him beyond his capacity to articulate- there aren't words for how frustrated and fond he is of this man. Brows inched, seaglass eyes gleaming, his hands remain on Anakin's shoulders. "Ani, what happened?"
