"Quite right." She says it almost cheerfully and reaches for her cup again, nearly finishing it.

"When you mentioned Jamie being alive, I thought you meant because our ship broke apart during a hurricane. It's the last thing I remember, actually. I thought I was dead, so thank you for at least confirming that I'm not."

This time, her smile is small but genuine. "I'm not surprised to hear that yet again, I thought Jamie was dead." Now, the smile fades again. "But why in God's name did he do this to you?"

She can't understand it, not based on the interaction she saw at the Governer's mansion.
