Claire's never been on this side of the time travel equation before. Usually she knows more than others. She remembers struggling with information, with knowing too much, though she suspects what John knows is less a history lesson and more personal. Taking a deep breath, she lets it out slowly, looking down at his hand still clasped in hers before making a decision. It's the same one that Jamie granted her what feels like a lifetime ago, though she'd decided to tell him everything in one go.

"I do want to know, but it doesn't need to be today. In fact, perhaps you shouldn't." How to address her lack of fondness? Although in a decade, surely they discussed this.

"I'm assuming you know the true reason Jamie and I were separated?"

She'd seen the look on John's face, the surprise to hear her addressed as Jamie's wife. Claire knows Jamie never clarified whether she was dead or not, only that he let people assume what they wanted. But suppose she told John herself at some point? That makes some of this easier, at least for her.
