John carefully holds his tongue about the fact that he and Jamie have shared more than she knows, breathing against the discomfort of the injury instead.

He smiles as she meets his eyes though. No matter how much strain they have had together in their history, they are friends. His expression softens.

"We have had conversations," he agrees. "Several of which were during my recovery from the measles. A person has quite a lot of time for conversation when on bed rest, I have discovered."
