There's a part of him that knows he should make an active attempt to not glare at Wylan as if he'd offended Kaz, his ancestors, and his dog. Yet there's a part of him that isn't sure how to handle this. He's finding himself caught between those feelings he had when he first arrived in this place of Jesper and Inej leaving, of all the ways they've grown in the last few months, and where this newest change leaves him.

Then there's that small part of him that realizes that he could truly turn full Dirtyhands on the boy and see how things ended... and the part that isn't sure he wants to do that. Not just for Jesper's sake, but Wylan's as well.

"I will say this, though I'm not sure it's my business. Jesper loves and loves deeply, widely. It's something I will never understand, even if I will gladly benefit from it for as long as I can. If he loves you, Wylan, then he loves you. That is not likely to change unless you're an utter fool. Which I don't think you are. Try and not prove me wrong on that, hmm?"

It's a bit of trying his hand at a pep talk... and threatening him at the same time. A very small threat. Almost a friendly one, really.

"As for your request... Life around me is full of pain. You all know that and have lived it. Despite some of my best efforts, and my certainty he knows that, he's made his choices and I refuse to deny myself what I have here any longer. So I suppose we'll see and the chips will fall where they may."
