Wylan almost lets out a snort of laughter. They are both giving each other the same speech. It's enough to make Wylan trust that Kaz doesn't want to hurt Jesper.

"Well, considering how I reacted to things, let's hope I'm not an utter fool and that hasn't changed." It's not like Wylan didn't have a reason for reacting the way he did, but when someone tells you they love you the best response is probably not asking them to stop saying it and then basically running away.
