joshua rosfield ( ffxvi ) thorne / death

[ this whole top-level will be SPOILER-HEAVY. ]

THORNE CASTLE
KITCHENS.
[ it's been a long time since he's lived in a castle, but joshua still remembers what it's like. once he's done with physickers and medicines and is reasonably certain he won't be catching a chill from his watery arrival, he steals down to the kitchens. they're always the warmest place in any castle, and he's always been told the heat's good for his weak lungs.

more importantly, he learned well from torgal early in life, and he can manage a very nice approximation of puppy eyes for the cooks. his slight figure and youthful face don't hurt matters most days, and his good manners have been known to sweeten even the surliest personality.

so it is that one might find him exiting the kitchens looking a little overwhelmed, a big cloth napkin wrapped around several still-steaming filled buns. he offers a sheepish smile, offering out his somewhat unwieldy bundle. ]
Apparently I am 'too skinny'. Would you like one?

EQUESTRIAN EXHIBITION.
So these are.. horses?

[ he doesn't mean to interrupt the person currently helping out with the large animals, but he sort of does mean to interrupt. it's just that he's only seen one creature like this before, and it certainly wasn't this docile or friendly.

he offers the back of his hand to one of the horses in question, breathing a pleased little laugh as it snuffles at his knuckles, mouths at his fingers. he pulls them away to gently pat it on the nose. ]

Aren't they meant to have more legs? [ .. what? ]

NOCWICH
[ here, joshua is mostly found in the shops and stalls. he finds a tunic that suits his tastes more somewhere, though until he can find an appropriate scarf to go with it, it shows a bit of the top of a strange, glowing blue stone or scar in the center of his chest, which has black tendrils radiating out from it like veins. it's not a pretty thing, and he has to continually adjust the neck of the tunic to try to hide it.

more even than clothes, though, he looks for books. the library is all well and good in the castle, but he's more interested in less biased texts (or at least those from other points-of-view). he also finds a nice leather-bound notebook and some writing utensils for himself.

as the sun is going down, he can be found taking a break, seated somewhere, breath wheezing unpleasantly out of his chest. he feels very impatient about it, truthfully, but he can't complain too much-- at least his cough hasn't come back just yet. ]
