Where I'm from you drink whenever you want. There's plenty to drink about.
( It's not a happy place. Jesper and the Crows love their corrupt and vicious city because they understand it, but being young never protected them from any of the gangs and criminals they spent their time with. Cadens isn't that dissimilar so it's always amusing to have people come here thinking age means something else. )
Yeah, Sam made a deal with her when the Summoned first fled to the Free Cities. You'll meet him eventually, he's our unofficial leader and even more friendly than I am, if you can believe it.
( Jesper winks at Cid. Sam and Jesper could be mistaken for father and son, both in terms of general appearance and their equally warm and cheerful personalities. Jesper is part of the welcome party so this is something he often does when he catches a newbie. Cid will find Sam Wilson a kin spirit and probably clock him right away as he gets settled in.)
Before you go what do you mean fled, Jesper, it's because Thorne started all of this over two years ago. They threw most of the Summoned in their dungeons and planned on executing one of them. These two randos showed up and rescued the group, offering free portals to the Free Cities or Solvunn. Afterward, the other factions started doing their own Summoning, AKA, the rest of us. Sam was one of the originals.
(There are only a handful of them left and Sam's one who doesn't mind being identified. If the others want to let people know, they will. Julie usually shares her knowledge right off the bat, like with him, but it's still up to her. Jesper walks them out of the market area toward where the inn is, close to the heart of the city but thankfully not near the barracks.)
Last year Thorne blew up one of our cities here, so I hope you weren't looking for a peaceful retirement. (After a beat, with a grin.) Because, you know, you're so old.
