james t. kirk (mirrorverse) — star trek aos — free cities

[ James doesn't react too well to the situation he suddenly finds himself in. Granted, floating in that water felt like a nightmare he couldn't wake up from, but being yanked to the surface and thrown naked onto a hard stone floor of some unknown location isn't exactly better.

He doesn't know where he is, how he got here or who these people are, and to him that only means one thing: threat. So he reacts accordingly— like a wild animal that suddenly has found itself trapped, he resists and struggles, scrambling for anything at all he can use as a weapon to defend himself, even when it becomes apparent that he doesn't have to.

Eventually, the guards will manage to subdue him. By force is likelier and easier for everyone involved really, and eventually (however long it takes), he'll be less hostile and more willing to listen. Not that the explanation helps much, but... he needs to be smart about this. ]

LIBERTAS[ The military uniform ends up being a comfort more than anything else about this place. He hates the heat, the sun is too bright on his sensitive eyes, and knowing next to nothing about this place leaves him feeling incredibly uncomfortable and on edge. Usually his first step would be to find a weapon, but the overall state of Libertas captures his attention, and as soon as he notices anyone looking at him, he'll take the opening to ask— ] What happened here?

THE SARSTINA[ James isn't too interested in getting drunk here. Unfamiliar location, he's not too keen to let his guard down. But he knows that places like this are ideal when it comes to establishing connections, and although the locals can be plenty useful in their own way, he's more interested in meeting others that have gone through the same experience as he.

It might be hit or miss, but he'll take his chances, greeting someone who's by the counter with a nod. ]

You drink?

TRAINING GROUNDS[ There are a number of things that bring James to this place: one, he wants to see what others here are capable of; two, he's eager to blow off some steam; three, he absolutely wants to be approached and invited to enlist in the military here. It's the kind of life he knows, it's what he's most at ease with, and he expects it will offer him plenty of opportunity to get more intimately involved with the workings of this place.

He won't shy away from a spar; whether he's asked or he just spots someone walking past as he practices on his own, he'll acknowledge them with a nod, gesturing. ]
Wanna spar? Promise I won't play nice.

[ As if he ever does. But he will play along, which is plenty already. As for the obstacle courses, he won't pull any of his usual tricks, but he's competitive to a fault and he's not going to waste a single breath; as soon as the start of the race is signaled, he's going to rush into a sprint, hopefully getting a good head start on his opponent. No way he's gonna let anyone beat him. ]

NOCWICH[ The lighting here is much gentler on his eyes. Darkness is a welcome reprieve, and James can actually see much better here than back in the Free Cities, and it's only a short while before his mood's improving.

Not that anyone would be able to tell, as James keeps the same guarded look on his face, but he might be more open to a stranger's approach. He'll be found exploring the streets, not the least bit concerned about being on his own in the dark in a place supposedly crawling with vampires and werewolves, nothing but a dagger strapped to his waist. He'll dip into the tavern for a drink, or wander the various stalls on the marketplace, pausing on occasion when a certain item catches his eye (could be a knife, could be a pen or a journal, or a piece of clothing). He reaches of it, pausing when the vendor notices his interest. ]
How much?
