[Gabriel feels a lot more of a sense of victory and accomplishment than he would ever admit, even to himself, when they turn out to be the winners. He also can't help but watch with fond amusement at Marty's celebration and rewarding of the goat; this is one of those many little reasons he likes humans so much. They have their moments with grand purposes and searches for cosmic meaning and all that, but they also celebrate an utterly pointless goat race won with a hefty dose of luck and almost-cheating with true, genuine joy.

[He takes the jar, turning it in his hands, and despite the incredulity he's genuinely curious. Fruit preserves are great. He's all about them.
The woman explains that they're indeed preserves of a local fruit, very sweet and just slightly tart, and then leaves to set up for the next race. Gabriel grins, holding up the jar for Marty to see.]
Looks like we're gonna have to win some bread next.
