[it's certainly not a fantastic first impression for someone who's descended into the depths with sympathy in their hearts, but Hazel doesn't appear to be concerned about the way her tone might be taken. she's a slight woman, barely scratching five feet, making the tapestry of scars and medical stitching decorating her body all the more striking. if nothing else she certainly fits the image of a dangerous criminal, especially with the unflinching gaze she's locked onto Alice after being approached.
she assumes this woman is here to sate her own sense of moral obligation, extract some sort of justification for the disparity between the castle's floors. it's superficial but understandable - she doesn't resent her for it, but she's also written off any meaningful help from the stranger...intentionally, at least. there was no telling what could be nabbed off her person, after all, and it's the sole reason she's engaged in conversation rather than petulantly ignoring her.]
