[ see, peter hasn't gotten into the bias part yet - after hours spent over physics books and chemistry and stark's tech, all of this still read like absolute fantasy to him. the book on magic theory that he's currently engrossed in is a bizarre dichotomy of technical wording on the topic of arcane magic, and now he's not sure if maybe tolkien spent some time here back in the day.
at the very least, he was mostly convinced this was real now, which has been a good start.
and, he very stubbornly has been trying to avoid going down the path of thinking about the world he was snatched up from - of that big red planet, of tony, and the aliens, and doctor strange and fading.
yeah, he's definitely not thinking about it.
he's halfway through rereading a passage about the difference between arcane, daemon and fey magic (like seriously??) when his senses pick up on movement ahead. still a little too hazy, still a little too slow and he startles when he hears his name, before looking up with increasingly widening eyes at - ]
Oh my god - [ the book is forgotten and he rises from his seat, a scrape of chair legs across the stone. ] - Doctor Strange! You're here!
[ it's not exactly excitement but it's something close to hope. because doctor strange was the wizard guy with the portals and the illusions and the really freakin' cool tricks and it seemed like if anyone would know how to interpret this mess it would be him.
there is, inevitably, the really uncomfortable fact that he needs to ask about time and he's not sure how to phrase it, so he lets it hang on the tip of his tongue. for now. ]
