This should really be good news. It means that he can let his guard down somewhat, doesn't it?

He just feels so... wrong about it. Like there's something deeply unnatural about not being surrounded by people who simultaneously want to protect him and want to eat him. Like he's lost something important to him somehow.

Louis tries really hard to maintain his neutral expression, but he's clearly shaken. It's so strange. He wanted so badly to create a world where no one had to go through what he did, and he's handed it on a silver platter. Why isn't he happy?

"Understand, the tension between herbivores and carnivores... it's fundamental to my society. It's the underpinning of... everything, I suppose." Everything. From how they build their infrastructure, to how they structure their education, to how they interact and self-segregate and intermingle... everything. But he shouldn't go on at length about it, should he? He wants to act like this doesn't really matter to him, like nothing is ever really more than a small obstacle to simply step over and continue on his way.
