productid4: (Oh no puppy eyes)

Haru has the misfortune of being adorable even when she's angry. Louis tries not to pay attention to that, though. It's demeaning and he knows it'd drive him absolutely insane if any larger animal said the same about him.

Louis' ears flick back as she points out the leg. Yeah, of course she'd point that out. It'd be weird if she didn't. Even so... what should he even say? 'Legoshi ate it, but don't worry, I wanted him to?' No, better to just keep his mouth shut about the whole thing. If Legoshi didn't share it, then Louis won't either.

But even so... maybe Louis' changed too, and maybe it's not fair to withhold so much information from her. How much is Louis trying to protect Haru and Legoshi, and how much is he just trying to protect himself.

His ears flick in agitation, looking away from Haru as he thinks, his eyes tense.

"...You're right. I won't tell you." If someone is going to tell her, let it be Legoshi. He doesn't want to ruin her image of him, not when Louis was the one to make the demand. "But... I'll tell you this much. I chose this. And I don't regret it for a moment."

There. It's paltry information, and it probably just brings up more questions, but Louis doesn't want to shut her out entirely. Not anymore.

(And maybe his ego is part of it. He doesn't want to let her think that he was just another helpless herbivore fallen victim to carnivore jaws.)

Louis turns to look at her again. "Maybe life would be easier, but I wouldn't give up our minds for the world." He's never seen what a mindless deer looks like, and he has a feeling he really won't like it. "Have they only been serving meat down here? I'll bring you vegetables from upstairs."
