oh gosh i love it though! I'M sorry this got long in return~

[ By his nature, the Doctor is not at all the sort to keep quiet, lay low, play nice or play by the rules. When it comes to injustice and anyone being wronged or harmed, he's a rebel, a renegade, a trouble-stirrer, asking questions, seeking to understand. That's been his modus operandi his entire life; travel the universe, find people in trouble, do everything he can to stop the bad things from happening and fix what's gone wrong, and then leave people to it. If this were any other situation, he would have flashed his psychic paper on the officials at Portam Hall and asked they turn over all evidence as part of an inquiry he'd just made up.

That's the difference here, though, and why he can't simply get his way: there's no leaving at all. He's trapped, without his ship, and so he's been forced to be careful and cautious. He does so loathe that. ]

On paper, I have no true reason to doubt them necessarily, but I'm not that sort. I doubt, I question, I explore. I'm curious. [ A small smile in return. ] You might say I've seen one too many persons with any authority tidy things up a bit too neatly over the years. Maybe I'm wrong — and I have been before. [ Oh, he's the confident sort, he thinks highly of himself, but by the same token, he can admit when he's wrong on the (few) occasions he is. ] Maybe everything they've said is true, but he insisted on his innocence. Natural, I suppose, for anyone in his position. Now, he was a nasty sort, I do believe that, but as for the delegation and what really happened...I wonder, and I'd like to know more.

[ As they walk, it's clear the Doctor is a fidgety sort, his hands moving animatedly, and then he waves his left hand a little. ]

I do carry on sometimes, sorry. And you're newly arrived, to top it off! Not the most pleasant of introductions, all things considered. I'll make it up to you, though I'm much more interested in your Raven Queen at the moment. Loads of civilizations have figures something like her, caretakers of what lies beyond, arbiters of life and death. The Lady, is she incorporeal or have you seen her?
