( Jack's mind is an often-splintered, recently-healed mess of scar tissue and damage even without taking into consideration the year of memories he'd acquired in Abraxas having been stripped from him and, today, abruptly re-inserted. It's a little bit like someone took a melon baller to a watermelon, scooped all his brain matter out, rearranged it into a vaguely watermelon shape, and then stuffed it right back inside the rind. There, among all the juicy watermelon-y guts, is a seed labelled 'Istredd' that he completely forgot existed until now, now that it's in front of him and he's looking at it and the neural pathways are reforging themselves.
He seems — surprised, which is saying something, considering Jack rarely seems like he's any particular emotion at all. )
I'm what?
( He asks, like a moron — until the last five minutes memories politely tap him on the shoulder and remind him that they, too, are part of the brain watermelon meat. )
Oh. Oh, shit. Yes. Yes please. Also, hi! Holy shit. I can't believe I forgot you existed. Is that rude? Should I have said that out loud? I'm sorry, I'm just- really all over the place right now, it's been a crazy summoning.
