EVENT #16: WINTERTIDE & ISLAND - WRAP-UP
Event #16 - Wintertide (Wrap-Up)
This year's winter celebrations saw a quieter, joyful time for all. Investigations on the island were also deemed a success. We know the holidays have been busy, so please feel free to continue posting to the IC event or proceed with new investigations throughout January.
The Wrap-Up for this event consists of:
The Wrap-Up for this event consists of:
◎ A look at the state of Abraxas as the world turns towards the new year
◎ The final decision made regarding the fate of the island
Entering the New Year
Although tensions between the three major nations persist, they're not as high as they were last year. Each leadership has focused on rebuilding their home territories and reinforcing their borders.
◎ Kingdom of Thorne
◎ Kingdom of Thorne
Many of the prisoners held in Thorne's dungeons have now either been released, fined, or executed. The cells below are now mostly empty once more aside from a small handful of the usual troublemakers or thieves. Repairs from the rift incident are completed in nearly all areas except where the damage was greatest.◎ The Free Cities
Nott has also gained a formal Summoned liaison in the form of Rhy Maresh, who will now reside permanently in Nott with his assistant Kell Maresh. Castle Thorne will release this news with a heavy emphasis placed on their desire to "work with the people of Nott to ensure the health of the kingdom." To aid with the increasing number of unemployed citizens, Lyle Vela will begin a program in which volunteers can help restore an old infirmary in Nott in exchange for a hot meal.
With assistance from the Summoned, the Red Path in particular has been properly restored. Other repairs from the rift incident are nearly completed in all areas except where the damage was greatest. The Farhill Mining Camp is now fully functional once more, as well as the Cadens barracks.◎ Solvunn Commune
Cauldor Wain's body has been taken down and buried in an unmarked grave. The city is also bustling with workers returning to their shops and trades, and students going back to school. Many orphaned children can be seen playing with their new toys, graciously donated throughout the holiday season, and the atmosphere remains one of good cheer. Portam Hall is especially crowded with citizens looking to submit various paperwork to get started in the new year.
Unlike the other two nations, Solvunn has another festival in the new year. Called the Midwinter Solstice, this festival runs from January to February and signifies winter's end as well as the beginning of another. Sacrifice is customary to the gods as thanks for all they’ve done. Offerings are usually handmade items or parts of a harvest. Sprigs and wreaths of holly and evergreen are strung up in beautiful arrangements.
Teamaking tents are put up around the Settlements where all come together to share dried tea leaves, herbs, and other infusions to make a special tea blend for family and loved ones. The Lunae, werewolves from Luna of Nocwich, often make the journey to join in the festivities and take livestock back with them. The Summoned are invited to join these celebrations.
The Island
Two out of three nations have voted to raze the island. This decision will prevent nature from reclaiming it and will leave the area barren for several decades. In exchange, the risk of corrupted flora or fauna will be greatly reduced. Since the surrounding waters remain a concern, officials will send their people to keep an eye on the situation over the next few years.
The Summoned can accompany the team who will be going to raze the island. The team will comprise mid-level officials and workers. They will oversee the task and ensure it's done correctly. The process will involve a combination of magic and heavy equipment. When completed, the island will be completely bare, and the cavern beneath will be sealed off to prevent water from entering it. While migratory birds and hardy insects will occasionally land on the island, for the most part, it will be devoid of life and nature.

Players do not need to thread out the process of razing the island. You may handwave your character's participation.
OOC Notes
We'll be posting a Game Plot Themes survey in the next few days to help us plan more plot-centric events for the game. We hope to deliver a larger and more exciting event by April! Depending on the scope of the future event, we may close the Plot Engagement again around late February or March.
Questions and Answers
If after reading these you're still unsure about anything, or your question wasn't covered, please feel free to hit up our Questions thread below!
- Can I still do investigations on the island?
- Of course! The Wrap-Up is to conclude the vote, but characters are welcome to continue investigating and exploring. We will post the results of all investigations by the next State of the Game in February, so we'll do our best to conclude them before the end of January.
- What about the NPC Meet & Greet?
- You can continue to leave messages for an NPC, as well! We'll set a soft deadline of the end of January for when we will no longer be accepting responses.
- How long will razing the island take?
- The process will take place over several hours. Characters can choose to stay for the duration or return home early.
- Is there anything that they can preserve from the island first?
- No, razing the island means everything on the island must be destroyed. This includes shrines and plant life.
- What will happen to the island after the razing?
- The island will be monitored, but otherwise left alone. In the future, changes to the island may take place as part of an event or plot.
- Can characters still return to the island after this?
- For the time being, plots and events involving the island have concluded.
