There's plenty of spiders. There's also plenty of the world that, despite my travels, I haven't seen, so I would not put it upon fate to correct me if my assumption was that giant spiders did not exist.
Also, kikimore are basically spiders, and giant, but they have faces. I think the answer is "close enough," really. There's also giant centipedes, and I think it also had a face. It's a bit of a theme. You could stumble on any acre of the Continent and find some large, wet monster that some nutter will find worship...able.
