For a moment Kahlil's gaze studies his features, tracks the slightly darkened veins down one side of the man's face - a sign of illness is his initial guess. There's something about his humorous rambling that reminds him of the Doctor. His eyes continue to trail down to his chest as attention is brought to it, and Kahlil gives a soft scoff and one shouldered shrug.

"Looks sturdy enough to me," he counters, then adds slightly (un)helpfully, "- some castle mages should be responsible for the enchantment upkeep."

He can't say who set it in place first, though.

Kahlil crouches down to the pile of books set on the floor, selecting the one at the top and eyeing the cover of what appears to be esoteric tome on the mating habits of sea eels in the Hydra Gulf. He scrunches his nose and rises again with it in hand, glancing at the shelves for wherever it came from.

"Interested in any of this, or just bored?"

He'll play along.
