It's convincing enough for Jacob. Then again it doesn't take much to get his help: even if Wake didn't look like that, rain-soaked and pale, Jacob would've tagged along anyway because Solvunn is boring him out of his mind. The rural, pastoral landscape's nice and all, but give him a city like London, buzzing with life and industry all day and all night.

The rained-on visage of Wake's really just evokes the sense of responsibility inside Jacob, that says he can't very well just let the man go alone. So he tugs on a coat and says, "All right, then. Let's get moving—the sooner we go the better our chances of beating the crowds there."
