The thing about the Free Cities -- especially when new people are arriving -- is that people just sort of. Talk to you. Even without a conversation being properly initiated. That's very new to Koby, who's accustomed to being invisible, to some extent. But it's not a bad thing, just...something new to get used to. Sometimes it's actually quite nice, meeting new people.

And sometimes they say the most unexpectedly, absurd hilarious things, prompting a startled bark of laughter before Koby's smacking his hand over his mouth. They're in a library, sir, please. "I-I don't think...that's a real, um. Card." Stop laughing. Try to look serious and disapproving. Someone has to.
