EPILOGUE: NEXUS

Epilogue: Nexus

6 months later

The Epilogue is set 6 months after the final event. While we've provided conclusions to major storylines, if you have any questions about specifics, you can ASK US HERE and we'll do our best to answer!

In Abraxas
Since the Summoned's arrival, Abraxas has undergone rapid changes to its politics, borders, and way of life. Now, these changes are more apparent than ever as the scales of power tip, leaving the major territories weakened and the minor territories holding far more influence than they once did.

The most significant difference is the breakdown of border restrictions. After the destruction the Singularity left behind, the continent must work closely together to rebuild—resulting in officials agreeing to relax travel regulations. Travel now only requires a permit and a declaration of one's home territory.

Magic continues to play a role in Abraxas. Despite the Singularity vanishing, it has not taken the people's magic with it. Researchers have begun to study what the future holds. They are unsure if magic might be depleted over the next century without the Singularity or if it continues to be a sustainable resource. One thing is certain: the magic remaining is much more stable without the Singularity's interference.
Major and Minor Territories
The major and minor territories have found themselves on a more even footing. Because the Singularity's outburst affected the Nether, the Feywilds, and Nocwich to a much lesser degree, the major territories now rely on their cooperation to help rebuild. Negotiations are new and ongoing, but thus far, all can agree that the situation is promising.
Major Territories
Kingdom of Thorne
Thorne is in a period of recovery and reconstruction. During the cataclysmic events, King Rudolph Sidwell led the Royal Navy to defend his kingdom. Regrettably, the king was lost at sea during the chaos, leaving the throne vacant once more. His wife, having no interest in leading the country, has moved herself and her children back to Borrel and removed them all from the political game.

As a result, the popular Duchess of Hayle, Anastasia Rhett, has ascended the throne, a rare monarch who took the crown without bloodshed. Anastasia has named Jolene the new High Mage. Meanwhile, Mace Hemmet has accepted his demotion back to apprentice. He seems almost happier to have more time to attend to his hounds.

Thorne's geography has shifted, as well. Nott, whose relationship with the monarchy was often contentious, has used the disaster and the rise of a new queen as leverage to strike a deal for independence. Nott now governs itself under Lyle Veda and the Council of Lords as a city-state supported by Thorne. Although former High Mage Ambrose Rhett is once again welcome back to the Castle, he's decided to remain in Nott to assist the Council that hid and helped him for so long. Citizens in both Thorne and Nott are cautiously hopeful.

The Summoned are assured of positions of respect under the reigns of Anastasia and the Council of Lords in Nott. Housing and career opportunities will be provided, and the contributions from the Summoned will not be forgotten. Lyle is particularly grateful for the help of the Summoned over the years.
The Free Cities
Elections have finally been called for the coming year. Prime Minister Marlo Reiner has agreed to step down. Her popularity has waned over the past two years, and the people are clamoring for change. Quilleth Kaur of Libertas has decided to run for Prime Minister and is currently the interim acting Prime Minister. Should she win the election, she will hold the position formally.

Meanwhile, a combination of lives lost and Thorne's reduced threat level has encouraged the Free Cities to shift its focus to the arts, sciences, and commerce. Due to citizens' declining support of the military, Quilleth has decided that rather than spending yet more money on the army, she will be allocating those funds to rebuilding the territory, including playhouses, a new park, and expanding Aquila's famous market into Cadens and Libertas - and perhaps beyond.

As for the Summoned, they are encouraged to attend the Academies or seek teaching positions if they have the skills to do so. Quilleth has promised that if she's elected, she will provide numerous bursaries and stipends for those focused on intellectual and creative pursuits. Whether she can keep her promises is another story...but her platform seems to appeal to the population nonetheless. She is also seeking Summoned with connections to multiple territories to become liaisons for the Free Cities, hoping this will boost trading.
Solvunn Commune
The Council focuses its efforts on rebuilding its fractured community. A split between the zealous who readily sacrificed friends, family, and neighbors to the tears and more practical members of the commune has made tensions rise for the first time on a public forum. The former have abandoned their old homes and towns to establish fringe groups deep in the wilderness. To them, the disappearance of the Singularity is a harbinger of the End of Days.

However, a more popular and tempered belief holds within the majority of the Commune: that the presence of the Gods and their partnership with the Summoned is a sign that the world is blessed and ought to be protected. That has become the primary message of the Council, which many Solvunnites support. Old shrines are restored; new ones are created. For those that did not ascend, the Summoned are revered more than ever, either as emissaries or as demigods themselves. The Council welcomes all who wish to serve and guide their communities in any capacity.

Rowan March and Isar Hart have promised to bring the four new settlements closer together, opening further trade and cooperation. Edda has reappeared, stating that she will travel across the land to offer her help. Lorelai has moved to the Primary Settlement and opened a small tea shop that has quickly become popular.

The Quaternary Settlement, a budding settlement in the patch of land absorbed by Solvunn near the Badlands, continues to grow, welcoming new members from across the world who want to devote themselves to Solvunn's lifestyle.
Minor Territories
Nocwich
Though tensions between Luna and Ikorr haven't vanished overnight, further steps have been taken toward diplomacy for the sake of open trade with the Summoned in the Feywilds. Neither side, however, is willing to relinquish their claims to Nocwich...but each is willing to set aside their differences should the Summoned require their help. Oleuni Square continues to thrive, and Admiral Chuck, the turtle, is a familiar presence aboard The Arcanis.

Some of the Lunae have returned to their ancestral grounds in Solvunn. With the establishment of a new fourth settlement, they're now part of a more eclectic society and wish to help restore some of the old ways with new faces. This includes partnering with any willing Summoned and Nature Gods to help regrow the wasteland areas of the Badlands bordering the Commune.

Lady Elin has finally reemerged. She continues to do readings in Oeluni Square but often tells the Summoned seeking further answers to their previous fortunes that their stories are in a new era. She will not explain further. She also travels to Solvunn from time to time, reconnecting with the Lunae's roots. Meanwhile, Sten has been appointed the official ambassador to the Summoned in the Feywilds for trade negotiations and other diplomatic activities.
The Nether
Since the disappearance of the Singularity, the Nether has continued to grow. The volcano's ecosystem continues to flourish along with the snowy tundra above as each area steadily gains new wildlife and flora. Many of the Draconae are hopeful their land could recover within the next few decades, allowing them to settle permanently aboveground if they wish.

A major part of this recovery is the the young dragons, who show renewed strength and vitality, thanks to the Summoned. The Inner Sanctum's goal is for the dragons to be restored to their former glory so they can once again help sustain the land across Abraxas...perhaps even providing a resource for the magic that others fear may be depleted without the Singularity's presence. Other Draconae dream of the re-emergence of the Dragon City that was swallowed by the ocean long ago...and perhaps even the ancient dragon writings buried deep in the sunken libraries of Tornis.

Relations between the Nether and Nocwich are developing further. Basic trade has opened up. This is in part due to encouragement from the Summoned, but also a result of one very important development: a newborn dragon who imbues its surroundings with the night. Nocwich is hopeful this dragon may aid them sustain the eternal night cast over their home, should the Nether agree to it, and are motivated to maintain a good relationship with the Draconae. For now, the two nations are testing the waters while the young dragon reaches adulthood.
The Feywilds
Now abandoned by the Fey, the Feywilds are slowly being transformed into a commune for the Summoned who do not wish to reside in any of the current territories. Though this new and growing territory has yet to be formally recognized by the other territories, the reception has been promising.

Elizabeth continues to stay in the Feywilds as an advisor. She appears disinterested in politics or leadership but has agreed to help any Summoned who wants to stay here to navigate the unique land and its properties. She has requested that the remaining structures be preserved for the sake of history and that the wildlife around it not be disturbed beyond what is needed for survival.

Currently, the other territories are working on building trade routes to the Feywilds. Due to the Fey's insular nature, no trade routes were established. As a result, the process is entirely new for everyone involved.
The Summoned & the Gods
The pantheons of the gods have changed since the tears were sealed and the Singularity vanished. Umbvagher has become more active than ever, openly moving among mortals in various disguises. It is rumored that despite his capricious nature, he is incredibly fond of humanity and vows to protect them thanks to the Summoned's involvement.

The Heralds have disappeared for now, believing they have fulfilled their purpose...for now. Solvunn Elders confirm this interpretation, predicting that the Heralds will not be seen again for many decades if not centuries. Likewise, Gods of nature and rebirth like Lyfbringr, Endrborrin, and Vimorskas have become even more popular as the world rebuilds.

The Trader(s) have seemingly vanished. But there is a world far away where a father and son will start a new journey together. The main shrine to Cadaevos has crumbled, believing that she, too, has left this world.

Nikodaemus has earned a fearful reverence thanks to Josselyn Creed's cult; however, it is believed that he and Soris Immaneus see themselves as patrons of the Summoned and watch over them. While Xeimer and Spyndlveiss have found places to live amongst the mortals and Summoned alike.

In the Horizon, the homes of the Old and New Gods, and the domains of the ascended Summoned, have all coalesced into one Horizon. While those Summoned who chose not to ascend cannot visit the Horizon again, those who did ascend can make their home there. No longer sustained by the Singularity and their connection to it, all must take an active role in its preservation through frequent visitation, magic, and belief.
At this stage, you can make up any relationships you want with the Gods, either as ascended Gods themselves or as mortals using the shrines to communicate!

Rebirth
The Singularity's presence recedes from the world, veins of influence snapping free and cutting the blood flow of the obelisk's magic. The shattering reality shifts back into place, fitting pieces of the earth and sky back together like a puzzle. The air lightens, the sense of omnipresent need leaving an unfamiliar silence in its wake. It becomes clear that even before the Singularity awakened so hungrily, it was felt in everything, from a single drop of rain to the weight of its spire that nearly touched the heavens.

The crater remains fractured at the edges, but the tower of solid stone is gone. It looks and feels empty. Even those who never visited it before will get the sense that something is missing.

The world moves on. And yet...

Cracks. Like the sound of a snap of thunder but without the preceding storm clouds. Somewhere across the vast expanse of universes, the ground opens up, splitting in two and peeling back the layers of sediment as a small obsidian stone breaks through. Animals and plant life recede, giving the minuscule rock a wide berth. The air around it yawns, pulling energy around itself in a tight blanket.

It sleeps.

It dreams.

Endlessly.
Thank you once again for being a part of Abraxas! With this, the game is now concluded. The mods will answer questions up until May 31. After that, the game will enter sandbox mode and players will be free to do anything they like with the world, NPCs, and plotlines in Abraxas as they see fit.
