[ listen - sam is well aware of the complications that come with discussions about bucky barnes. if you'd asked him just a few months before all of this, he himself would have had a different answer. but things changed, as they were want to do, and sam. didn't really feel like giving tony stark a summary of his life since tony's death. not that specific, at least.
so he's more than happy to change the subject to peter parker - to the wild time that sam dealt with those first few months, and the weird empty room left in his place back in the city. the comment about queens has sam lifting a brow, mostly because yes - that kid shouldn't be anywhere else but queens. because sam has thoughts about that, had thoughts back when peter first arrived, but one glance tells him that tony knows exactly what sam thinks about that. or, if not exactly, is carrying his own guilt about it.
so instead, for now at least, sam lets it go. exhales, once, at tony's question. ]

[ he knows that is what tony means, but he's also feeling vaguely protective, so. you know. ] Got pardoned, in therapy, whole nine yards. [ is it in poor taste to be making a comment about how there are certain other people who should have been in therapy when said people are now dead? sam's not entirely sure of the protocol here. then again, he's not entirely sure how there would be a protocol at all.
sam is struck by that thought, though. that tony is dead. that sam was at his funeral, saw his daughter, his home. they were all things sam hadn't really thought about, at the time - coming back from not existing tended to put a lot of things in the 'i will deal with this later' category. but now that they're here...sam comes to a stop, somewhat suddenly, looking at tony with a thoughtful expression. ]
