Cabal has been similarly searching for weaknesses. Being summoned and promptly imprisoned by some tarot wielding mage is downright offensive, but he needs to keep a cool head if he wants to escape (and, ideally, rob the mage's laboratory while he's at it).

Dryly, he adds: "though last time I at least knew why."

Usually it was the necromancy that got people angry, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. And it certainly doesn't explain all the other prisoners.
