Jack snorts indelicately. "You don't need to have magic to do that." He's a prince. He's seen it close up. "It was the High Mage who said I was a success, too. He was reading a book, and it was like he found me in... the book."

Which doesn't make sense. This isn't even his world. Why would he be in a book? (And why would anyone choose him as a success if they knew anything about him, anyway?)
