"If the state wants to imprison or execute someone, it has to prove that they did something against the law. And people have a right to a lawyer who can argue on their behalf and show the court if the state has it wrong."
He lets out a soft huff, scratching the back of his neck. "Well... honestly, I've lost count. I've been doing this for a while, and... well, the police in my area aren't as thorough investigating as they should be." He took a pretty long break for reasons, but that's neither here nor there. "I specialize in murder cases, and all but one of my clients have been found innocent of murder. The 'one' actually committed the murder, so I don't feel sorry about him."
