( so it's not only those not thrown into a dungeon that were born with special powers. then what is the criteria? what makes them so fundamentally different, that they must be separated like this? )
Naib.
( it's rare, for eli to sound so serious, almost mad. he's not at naib, of course not, but mostly at the situation they're in, the situation his friend is in. he wants to help, and doesn't want to be told this is something the mercenary should deal with alone. they're teammates, they help each other. everyone else at manor (well, perhaps save from a selected few) would agree with the seer; none of them want to roam free and glorified in a new place while a friend rots in jail for a crime they never committed. )
I will talk to them. They'd sooner kick you down, yes, but if I'm as honored as they consider me to be, then they have to at least listen to me, right? You're a friend of an honored guest. I'm not going to let them treat you like this.
( it's still a whisper, rushed and upset. not at all like eli usually sounds. when before he'd concern himself with the way the guards and prisoners would look at him, with doubt and suspicious and certainly disdain, now those concerns were long gone. )
I'll either get you out of here, or join you. I'm sure you can find a little room in there for me, right?
